I’ll just leave this here
Due to grave aftermaths of three days of living on nothing but noodles, vodka and techno music, I’ll just leave this here and go to bed – instead of telling you how awesome Universe is/are(?).

LAND OF KINGS – Dalston’s annual one-wristband, multi-venue festival – returns for its second year on Friday 23rd April connecting local talent, venues, food and art.
The inaugural festival in April 2009, showcased over 60 artists and hours of innovative programming to two thousand plus revellers, who stomped their way through Dalston’s underbelly. Featuring the likes of Fuck Buttons, Faze Action, Idjut Boys, Drums of Death, New Young Pony Club and Stoke Newington International Airport theatre company, it was Erol Alkan’s secret “Rave in the Cave”, that captured the festival’s formula to a tee: the best of local talent in unexpected and exciting spaces.
Looking ahead to 23rd April 2010, LAND OF KINGS will once again throw open the doors of some of Dalston’s off-piste haunts. Hot new clubs, down-at-heel school halls and the many basement venues that make up the buzzing night culture of the area are brought together with local artists and curators. There will be an exclusive cabaret commission from interactive theatre company Gideon Reeling, talent showcases from Thisisnotanexit records and the Pool DJ agency, and club nights from Say Yes, Girlcore and Living in a Disco.
2010’s line-up is bursting at the seams with talent. From the electronic disco of Rory Phillips and Nadia Ksaiba and dirty bass music of Greco Roman Soundsystem through to the noise-rock of the Horrors and Tayo’s new night of ‘4/4 music without frontiers’. Nationally renowned jazz club, The Vortex, brings rootsy, hip-hop influenced jazz courtesy of Speakers Corner Quartet and hot new Sunday Best signings, Sound of Rum who are currently running around the country on tour with Dan le Sac and Scoobius Pip.
Playing live will be the psych-pop Dignan Porch, cheerful lo-fuzz act Yuck, and Stoke Newington’s white hot electro new wavers The Detachments. 9-piece Hackney Colliery Band brave April showers and mine nuggets of funk, hip-hop and hi-octane rock from the musical coalface and throwing in a few chunks of Balkan brass, ska and contemporary jazz for good measure.
Other acts include: A Love Supreme // Arne Blackman // Black Rainbow // Cheatahs // Clancy // Dollop DJs // Feeding Time DJs // Filthy Few // Graffiti Island // Lovvers DJs // Magnets // Matty J // Ronojoy Dam // Sexbeat // Simon A. Carr // Soft Rocks // Spin Spin the Dog // Thomas Bullock (Rub ‘n’ Tug) // Transparent DJs // Wet Paint Plus lots more TBA (check www.landofkings.co.uk for the latest)
Good evening dear internet friends, here’s an amazing piece of music that will make your day a good day: Yannis Philippakis‘ amazing voice surrounded by an athmospheric soundscape fuller of suspension than the silent moments of a thunderstorm building up on a warm summer evening - incredibly beautiful, incredibly intense, incredibly deep. If you don’t like it, please wait ten minutes and give it a second listen – it will grow on you, I promise. Plus, I used the terminus amazing twice in one post, which is always a good omen. I love you, G.e.R.M.!
Who doesn’t love free stuff? I’ve managed to get my hands on two über-exclusive T-shirts designed by London based electro-pop outfit Chew Lips as they take over the reign over the Topman CTRL empire in April. As a part of their month in charge of Topman CTRL, they play an exclusive show at the Cardiff Arts Institue on April 16, with support from Party Horse, Ten Bears and DJ Dan Strange. As I’m feeling super generous today, I’m giving away two of these fresh T-shirts as well as a pair of tickets to the show – just email me at discodemons@gmail.com and tell me why you love whales.
In case you’ve ever wondered what Austrians do in their freetime, there are three main options: Drinking beer, having sex, and producing electronic music – here’s what happens when they’re carrying out these three activities simultaneously: floating between Major Lazer, Schlachthofbronx and Jack Beats, Cha Cha Cha showcases the trademark sound of an up and coming generation of Austrian producers, including Viennese electro outfit Pure Peer Pressure. Make sure to check out their Soundcloud page too, to get an idea of their musical multitudinousness and sophistication – ranging from orchestral dubstep to four-to-the-floor tech-house tracks, I’m not joking.
Falko Niestolik & Tom Leeland – Cha Cha Cha (PPP Remix)
Last week I was quite lazy in terms of blogging, so I’m more than proud to present an adequate compensation for a soundless week. It’s not exactly what you might expect from Disco Demons, but as I’ve always loved to break genre boundaries, here’s an exclusive world premiere of Austrian electro-swing king Parov Stelar remixing himself.
Featuring amazingly beautiful vocals by the one and only Lilja Bloom, this masterpiece has made me believe in love at first listen again (not only because I love piano intros): Parov puts his gentle remix fingerprints all over the title track of his latest studio album, Coco – taking the song to an even higher level of awesomeness. Download it exclusively on Disco Demons in its full 320kbps glory – thanks, Etage Noir Recordings!
