Catastrophe

I’m terribly sorry for a rather soundless Monday here on Disco Demons, been spending way too much time working on some new tunes lately – here’s an adequate compensation, I think: Mustard Pimp‘s latest mixtape, marking the initial volume of a new series titled Catastrophe Mixtapes. As if that wouldn’t be reasons enough to celebrate, I was delighted to discover that my friends and fellow compatriots A.G.Trio are featured in the mix, remixed by no one less than Zodiac Cartel. Sick mix, sweet selection of music, smooth mixing – missing the parental control badge here, though: This is called sex education!

Toxic

Rainy sunday afternoon car drive soundtrack. Interesting and funny listening experience, as dubstep meets the last decade’s pop classics – including Britney Spears, La Roux, Justice and yes, Swedish House Mafia. Here’s what Aric Wilde has to say about his own mix: “lots of bass and some words with a snare in there every once in a while.”

Aric Wilde – WTF IS EDM / Book 1: Dubstep

I was especially delighted to discover one particular track in this mix: A remix of the Blue Foundation’s Eyes On Fire that I once wrote a feature about back in the blogspot days. I’m still heavily in love with this track, so I decided to revive it by sharing it once again:

Ordinateur

Another Disco Demons exclusive: In contradistinction to the past few days’ disco and dubstep tunes, here’s what would be classified as the brutal death metal sub-genre of electronic dance music. Introduced by an epic intro (which should perfectly serve every DJ who’s planning to break the house down by surprise), this rework can be best described as rough, fierce and boisterous. Disclaimer: I do not accept any responsibilty for this track – if your ears are going to bleed, please send any complaints to Spanish electro outfit La Musique D’Ordinateur. By the way, are they sampling Prodigy’s Omen-xylophone right before the heavily sidechained drop?

BSS TSS

Despite my general aversion to dubstep, I can’t help but like this tune – maybe because I’ve seen Buraka Som Sistema perform live earlier this year and this remix captures the crackling energy they bring on stage quite impressively. Besides, Belgian producer duo Tss has the biggest party ever (therefore dethroning Digitalism ), according to an ambitious claim on their SoundCloud account. Kuduro is king!

4th of July

As Clockwork has become a regular name on Disco Demons over the past few years, I think there’s no need for introduction here. Do not let you fool by the intro, this is a serious tune.

Eat It Raw!

As I wasn’t satisfied with most of the promos I got today (and as always, those I would’ve liked enough to share on the blog were streaming-only), I spent quite some time browsing SoundCloud searching for tracks to feed to the bass-hungry masses. Thanks to all the greedy labels  not allowing me to share their music with my readers, I found something huge and dark in the depths of SoundCloud: A bassline that would make Chuck Norris shit his pants and a synth driven by insane amounts of distortion – raw like a bloody piece of steak. Let me introduce to you: Sybrfuk.

Stars

After a week of banging tracks designed for peak-time packed dancefloors, here’s the perfect track to get you in a relaxed, pensive Sunday-evening-mood. Not quite what one might expect from LA ravers LAZRtag, but I’m liking it a lot. Wishing you all a good week tomorrow, take care.

Zombie Nation

Here’s what The Only have to say about their own bootleg: “Cheesy but fun and definitely floor rocking.” Supported by the likes of Steve Aoki – and Disco Demons.

Babbylorso

Italo disco kings Fare Soldi remixing their fellow compatriot Congorock’s explosive electro bomb Babylon – I’ve always been a fan of weird, unexpected collaborations, but that one seemed a bit too far-fetched. However, this tune immediately got stuck on repeat after the first listen, it’s just too surprising, tropical and cheerful to ignore. Can’t wait to drop this in my sets and watch the crowd’s reaction, gonna be hilarious!
