To be honest with you, I haven’t heard of German producers Teenage Mutants before (I can’t but expected to know about everybody, right?), but their special cookies sure did put a big smile on my face. Dada Life’s Cookies With A Smile gets the tasty remix treatment of its lifetime, blowing even the last crumbs away.
As if that wasn’t enough, they lately put out an EP titled Africa…Boombasa!, with remixes by Dirty Disco Youth and Stupid Fresh. Already earning support from names such as Cyberpunkers, Dada Life and Malente, Teenage Mutants is definitely a name you’ll be hearing a lot soon. By the way, the whole EP can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below.
I’m finally back in Austria, Paris was amazing. Sorry to all of you who wanted to meet up in Munich, due to delays I had to re-schedule so I didn’t quite manage to get there. Unfortunately, I’m chained to my bed by fever now – good thing about it, I now have plenty of time to go through emails and check out new music, which you all should benefit from.
The pair of tickets for the Frequency Festival went to Simon P. who composed a hilarious poem about why it’s not going to rain at the festival. I uploaded to poem to share the fun, you can give it a read here (German only). The winners of the T-shirts and vinyl records will be contacted within the next few days.
Enough for the organisational side of things, let’s talk music music: To celebrate the glorious return of Disco Demons (I’ve always been a self-publicist), I’ve got two tracks for you in stock. First in line is a brand-new funky disco rework of Boney M’s legendary Daddy Cool, no need for introduction here, I think. Kudos to French (but currently Sydney-based) producer Fake Moustache!
Old but gold is the name of the game for the second treat I’ve got cooking for you: Thanks to my buddy Orangutan Klaus (who happens to be one of the sickest VJs of all time), I recently discovered this 2009 remix of Fatboy Slim’s Right Here Right Now by Australian electro outfit Trump Disco. Cheers!
Once again, Friday has finally arrived, making up for an exhausting week that kept dragging along for too long now. I spontaneously decided to take a week off, so I’m saying goodbye to Austria after playing a final show on Saturday, and will be staying in Paris, France until Friday next week, then heading to Luzern, Switzerland to DJ a party at the Grand Casino there. I’m travelling via Munich, Germany, so if anyone wants to say hi or have a beer, just drop me a comment or send me an email.
As this means no new music until Sunday, August 15, I came up with an adequate compensation: I’m giving away loads of goodies, including T-shirts and vinyl records. More details on how to get your hands on these giveaways after the jump, just click “Continue Reading” below…
Listen up, European electro freaks: Deadmau5, LCD Soundsystem, Diplo & Major Lazer, Mustard Pimp, Schlachthofbronx and many more will be performing at this year’s edition of FM4 Frequency Festival in St. Poelten, Austria. For those of you who are still not fully convinced by now: The non-electronic line-up includes names such as Muse, Massive Attack, La Roux, Klaxons, Hot Chip and Peaches.
However, the reason why I’m telling you this is that I have two weekend passes for the festival to give away. In order to participate in the competition, you just need to send me an email at discodemons@gmail.com and tell me why it’s not going to rain at this year’s Frequency festival. Good Luck!
(Best entry wins. No country restrictions, emails must be written in English, German or French, though. Minimum age: 16. Winner gets both tickets.)
I was quite lazy in terms of blogging last week, here’s my confession. Also, I was on the road the entire weekend, playing with Aeroplane from Bruxelles, Kitsuné’s very own Jerry Bouthier and Austrian electro heroes A.G.Trio.
To make up for a quite soundless week, here’s a banging track that recalls some sweet memories: Opening up for StereoHeroes last week, witnessing the two French madmen entertaining a hall of sweaty ravers by dropping following track while tempestuously destroying the stage decoration – riot riot riot!
