Hangover Sessions #10

The tenth edition of Aka Tell´s “Hangover Sessions” brings another selection of Aka´s month in club music with some in-your-face basslines and driving beats. And maybe some surprises.

When I heard this great Foamo track recently (the one I open the mix with, “Ocean Drive”) I thought: What a great opportunity to do a more laid back mix. But I didn´t. Actually this might be the hardest one since some time, depends on your point of view. “Ocean Drive” still fits in perfectly, I played it a few weeks ago in a primetime set and people went wild.
ZZT are responsible for another one of my personal favorite tracks in this months mix. “Partys Over Los Angeles” is nothing like a standard dance track but is really pushing the limits. When I talked to colleagues about this track they were like: “Impossible to play this track in a club.” – Sounds like a challenge to me.
I featured a track by The S in nearly every mix in the last months, and I have to admit that some of their recent releases did not thrill me that much any more. Too much of the same sounds and techniques. But “Haunting Melodies” is different, I even think it´s their best track so far. Great melody, some new sounds, but still the things I like about The S.
And after some time it seems like I became a real big Gesaffelstein fan. I was not so much into his sound when the big hype started, but no problem with that, I am not one of those “I listened to it before you did” hipsters. And I guess he would not like that I always play his music at a much higher speed than he produced it at. I have to try and catch one of his DJ-sets, would be interesting what he plays besides his own music.

I get a lot of feedback about my mixes since I started to do the “Hangover Sessions”. This is very important for me and gives me the energy to continue. So I would appreciate if you post your opinion, send me an e-mail or share my mix on facebook or twitter. Thank you for being such a great audience for the first 10 mixes!
