SCNTST, Gesaffelstein, Clouds, TWR72, Botnek, Modek, Keith & Supabeatz and many more – the least common factor in the tracklists of recent mixes by the likes of Autoerotique, The Subs or Blatta & Inesha is not only basically a list of artists to keep an eye on in 2012 but also has TECHNO written all over it.
To be precise, it’s not even really techno. It’s more of a new generation of electro, strongly leaning towards techno – brought into being by a bunch of inventive producers sick of hearing the same distorted and overdriven synth presets over and over again. For them, it’s all about crisp, clear productions, about new and challenging sounds: competing for innovation rather than for the hardest drop. Electro has grown up – finally.
