Bulgarian-bred but Berlin-based Dena generated quite a buzz throughout the interwebz back in 2012 (I think I just realized for the first time that we’re actually in 2013 now), with the music video for Cash, Diamond Rings, Swimming Pools going viral. Her fresh, sassy approach to old-school hip-hop and pop music combined with the exaggerated Eastern bloc attitude of the video did not only make M.I.A. and Azealia Banks look like little choir girls but also earned her lots of praise, even scoring “new band of the day” on Guardian Music.
More than half a year later, the single will be finally released now: coming up on January 28th, the single will be out out on everyone’s darling Kitsuné – along with a more edgy remix by German Obi Blanche for the open-minded dancefloors.
